Rang Da Silat Song List – Part 5
Rang Di Sanggulu Rang Di is a famous Rangda Silat song composed by Zafar Saad Al-Raschid. The song was made popular by singer Farrukh Abdul Haque. Rang Di Sanggulu Rang Di was first introduced in the year 2021 at a concert organized by Farrukh. The concert was held at the Rangda Sanghesham stadium in Islamabad. Rang Di Sanggulu Rang Di has been used as the national tune ever since.
Rang Di Sanggulu Rang Di is a duet tune composed by Rangdi and Ghazal Khan. Rang Di is a duet tune with a very simple melody that provides the necessary music to make duets sing effortlessly. Rang Di is commonly used as a goodbye song before Salaam Namaz or during mid-night celebrations. Rang Di is played alone, but can also be played as an instrumental duet with a pre-recorded tune.
Rang Di is a very simple Rang da. There is no background music, the music is pure and the words are relatively simple. The Rang Di sung in Rang Da form is different from the Rang Di written. Rang Di is played in the same manner as Rang Da.
Rang Di is mainly played by women. It is one of the few Rang da songs that is not widely played at weddings. It is mostly played at functions and other informal occasions. Most people use Rang Di to make their speeches more impressive.
Rang Di is a simple song. However, a Rang Di routine will be more effective if it is followed by other Rang da duets. Rang Di is more impressive if it is followed by Rang sajar Sambar or Rang magang. Rang sajar samaras are traditional duets that are played at the end of a Rang Di routine. Magang is another traditional duet that can be played at the beginning or the end of the routine.
Rang Di was created as a duet for two Rang sajar (riders) and it features one singer. Traditionally, Rang Di is played on a flat bamboo flute. There are now many styles of flutes with flutes having open holes in them. The most common ones are made in the shape of a rectangle, square or oval.
Rang Di is a duet which means it is a group song and not a solo or unaccompanied song. It is usually played at the end of Rang sajar or Rang kuda. When Rang Di is soloed, it may be compared to a ballad like Handel’s “Water Music”. There is a different version of Rang Di which is the National Language of Malaysia called Hokkien Rang Don which is taught in schools in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
Rang Di is a simple song about a journey. It is connected to the belief of Buddhism that all things begin in the mind. If the journey is taken by the mind, one can achieve the highest state of being known as Nirvana. Rang Da Silat is not a difficult song to learn. Anyone can begin by playing a Rang drum which is a very light instrument with two tubes, one tube is plucked to produce the sound and the other is picked to produce the beat. Rang Silat also has its own set of principles and mantras that one has to learn in order to practice silat.
Rang Siay (Rang Tika) is the next song on the list. It is more popular with the younger generation who wants to learn Rang Di as it contains references to partying and having fun. Rang Siay literally means the good night and when one is partying, this song is often played.
Rang Khay (Rang Keer) is the next in the sequence and is the most sad song. The Rang Khay has to do with the relationship between husband and wife. There is a great deal of emotion expressed by the singer and the lyrics are full of supplication and longing. This is probably one of the hardest Rang Silat songs to master as there are few Rang Khays that have both sad and happy contents in them.
Rang Siay and Rang Keer are followed by Rang Di and Rang Khay. There are no dearth of Rang Di’s but there are more hard core Rang Khays who try to pull of the best of Rang Di. The hard core Rang Khays are not that easy to make so one has to really concentrate and listen to these guys carefully. The Rang Di is one of the hardest songs to make as well. The Rang Di is followed by Rang Tahah (Tahu Kay Loh) and Rang Kahani ( Kahani Dau).
